How To Configure and Display Promotions on Your Website
16 min
overview storagely websites display and transact whatever promotions (discounts, specials, coupon codes, referral codes) are configured in your facility management software (fms) the fms determines what types of promotions exist, how they work, and when they apply key point if a promotion works in your fms and its customer facing portal (e g , storable rental center), it will work when pulled through the api to your storagely website and the storagely rental system what controls promotions? facility management software (fms) is the system of record it controls available promotion types and fields (e g , percent/dollar off, duration, first month specials, etc ) where promotions can be attached (location/facility level, unit type/unit level, promo/referral code level) eligibility logic (e g , occupancy rules, date windows, new vs existing tenant, one time vs ongoing) storagely websites consume those settings via api and show any eligible promotion alongside the unit rate/details apply the promotion at checkout according to fms rules reflect the correct final charges/taxes/fees based on the fms calculation promotion scopes commonly supported by fms many fmss allow promotions to be configured and applied at one or more of the following levels location level (facility wide specials) unit/unit type level (only certain sizes/types qualify) promo code or referral code level (applies when a valid code is entered) exact options vary by fms see the fms specific sections below for capabilities and tips current storagely fms integrations storagely currently integrates with storable edge storable sitelink self storage manager (ssm) if your facility uses one of the systems above, promotions configured there will flow to your storagely website and rental system stacking rules (important!) automatic stacking of more than one promotion on the same unit is not supported in edge or sitelink in practice, that means only one promotion can be auto applied to a single unit at a time during an online move in however, different units at the same facility can each display different promotions for example, one unit type may have a “first month free” special while another has “50% off 2 months ” if you need to combine offers on the same unit , you have two options use a promo code or referral code representing the combined offer process the second discount manually after the website move in is completed (inside your fms) fms specific notes storable edge promotion types & where they apply supports rental promotions that can be configured for various durations and often targeted to unit/unit type or location scope line item one time discounts are also supported, but these are separate from rental promotions and typically do not carry forward to future charges promo/referral codes edge supports coupon/promo code based promotions note that coupon based (code) and auto applied promotions are typically mutually exclusive at the time of move in—choose one method per scenario stacking automatic stacking is not supported for multiple promotions on the same unit at checkout different units at the same facility, however, can each have their own promotion operator workflow tips prefer rental promotions for specials that affect future charges; use one time discounts for ad hoc, in line adjustments that should not recur if you must deliver a combined incentive, consider creating a single promotion that already encapsulates the total benefit more resources https //help storedge com/hc/en us/articles/204191074 adding discounts promotion naming and abbreviation how names sync storagely pulls promotion names directly from storedge via the api the promotion name field in edge is what displays to customers during checkout and on unit listings why abbreviations appear edge sends an abbreviated promotion code (for example, “fmf” for first month free ) in the api response this abbreviation comes from edge’s internal promotion identifier rather than the full public facing label current api limitation the edge v1 api does not include a “public description” field , so storagely cannot display the full text or marketing name of a promotion if only the abbreviated code is available result in checkout if you notice a short code (like “fmf”) showing on your storagely website’s checkout page, that abbreviation is coming directly from edge and represents the corresponding promotion reference https //help storedge com/hc/en us/articles/204658300 rental promotions this behavior is expected and does not affect the functionality of the promotion itself the discount still applies correctly according to storedge’s configuration more resources https //help storedge com/hc/en us/articles/204191074 adding discounts storable sitelink promotion types & where they apply sitelink supports discount plans and specials that can be shown on websites and applied to reservations or online move ins these can often be targeted at the unit/unit type level stacking automatic stacking is not supported for the same unit however, multiple units at the same facility can display different promotions at the same time operator workflow tips configure website eligible discounts so they appear to customers during online move in if you routinely need two concurrent benefits on the same unit, consider building a single discount plan that captures both elements more resources https //storageforum sitelink com/discussion/2127/multiple discounts on move in self storage manager (ssm) status details in progress placeholder guidance ssm supports promotions/discounts that display on websites and can be scoped by unit type or global rules exact stacking behavior and code/referral capabilities are being confirmed we’ll update this section with precise ssm configuration steps and stacking rules as soon as they’re confirmed in the meantime, if you must combine offers on the same unit, use a single consolidated promotion or apply additional adjustments post move in testing promotions before going live for storable edge and storable sitelink , you can validate promotion behavior using storable rental center (tenant portal/online move in experience) configure/enable the promotion in your fms confirm it is set to display on your website and is eligible for your test unit(s) in rental center , walk through a test reservation/move in verify the promotion appears where expected (unit list, checkout) if a promo code is required, confirm the code must be entered to apply the promotion if it behaves correctly in rental center, it will behave the same when pulled via api to the storagely website and storagely rental system note auto applied vs code based approaches behave differently ensure you are testing the method you intend to use important reminder syncing changes whenever you make any changes in your fms settings —including promotions, rates, or unit availability—you must run an fms sync in your storagely dashboard this ensures that the latest promotions and settings are immediately reflected on your storagely website and rental system frequently asked questions can your website show different promotions for different unit sizes? yes—if your fms promotion is scoped to certain unit types/sizes, those rules will carry through to the website can my customer use both a first month special and a military discount automatically online? not automatically in edge or sitelink only one promotion is auto applied to a unit at a time to combine, use a code based “combo” promotion or adjust manually post move in what if a promotion applies for multiple months? that schedule is controlled in the fms (e g , x months at y%) the website will reflect the fms’ calculation at checkout why did my promo not show up on a unit? common reasons include the unit type isn’t eligible, the promotion expired, occupancy rules prevented display, or the promo is code based and the code wasn’t entered operator checklist configure the promotion in your fms (scope, duration, eligibility) decide auto applied vs promo/referral code verify website eligibility settings in the fms run an fms sync in your storagely dashboard after making changes test in rental center with an eligible unit if combining offers on the same unit, create a single “combo” code/promotion or plan to apply the second discount manually after online move in need help? if your promotion behaves correctly in your fms but not on your storagely website, contact storagely support with fms in use and facility name
